Increase in shed and garage thefts |
||
|
Residents,
We want to make you aware that there has been a recent rise in thefts targeting sheds, garages, and outbuildings in the area. Offenders are taking advantage of easy-to-access spaces and unsecured tools / equipment. A few simple steps can make a big difference in protecting your property and deterring opportunistic thieves.
Strengthen your security - Use strong, high quality locks on sheds and garages. Consider adding a battery-powered alarm or door sensor. Improve visibility - Install motion-activated lighting around outbuildings and keep pathways / entrances well-lit to reduce hiding spots. Add surveillance - If possible, install CCTV or a video doorbell that covers the approach to your shed or garage. Displaying CCTV signage alone can act as a deterrent. Protect your property - Register valuable items on a property database such as Immobilise. Don't make it easy - Always lock doors and windows, even when you're home. Avoid leaving ladders or tools outside that could help someone gain access.
If you notice suspicious behaviour such as people looking into gardens, trying shed doors, or moving around properties at unusual times - report it! Even small details can help build a bigger picture.
Stay safe. | ||
